the online magazine for the creative writer in us all
SUBMISSION INFO for THE COFFEE PRESS JOURNAL.
(revised December 27, 2007)
Thank you for your interest in submitting your original poem, short
story, or essay to our online magazine!
Please read the following before submitting your work to us.
Submission of your work tells us that you've read this, agree with
it, and still want us to publish your work.
-
We welcome original short stories, essays, or poetry from non-published
as well as published authors.
-
In accordance to our purpose statement,
we reserve the right to accept or reject a poem. Though we strive
not to define "good art"recognizing the term "good"
as relativewe will consider several factors in our decision
whether or not to include your work in our publication, including
but not solely: the message, the method by which it's conveyed,
the style in which it was wrought, and the general effectiveness
of the work. Basically, if it's come from the heart, it will show.
Alternately, we will not generally accept "religious verse" or "greeting
card niceties". Where does the rubber meet the road in your
life? Show us that place. It's not necessary to weigh it down with
frosting and sprinkles, so to speak. If you have a joyfully-encouraging
work, let's see in "real-life experience".
-
Please send one submissions per email, even if the submissions
are a separate attachment. That will help us keep track of multiple
submissions.
-
Please try to keep your submissions to 1000 words or less. Submissions
that are greater than 1000 words will usually see an email asking
for either a shorter version or for it to be broken up into "parts"
and published over multiple issues.
In regards to publishing rights:
-
Your original work must be submitted by e-mail and
received by the deadline posted on the main page to be considered
for the following month's issue. Works received after the deadline
will be held for a future issue.
-
We reserve the right to print your submitted work one time in any version of our magazine. (As of 12/27/2007, there are two versions--a free ad-supported HTML derision and a paid ad-free PDF version.) We also
reserve the right *not* to print your work for various reasons,
or our editing dept. might make a suggestion regarding it before
finalizing it for publication. In any case, we make every effort
to respect the author and the submission.
-
Authors who have paid
for a subscription can have a short biographical statement (approx.
4 lines) about them, their art, etc. It will be included if one
is provided. This content is also subject to the same standards
as the rest of The Coffee Press Journal, and may be edited for length,
content, etc. All efforts will be made to ensure this to be satisfactory
to all parties.
-
The Coffee Press Journal (CPJ) retains the copyright on published
issues of the magazine itself, as it pertains to the collection
of works inside each issue. Of course, the rights of each contributor's
work remains the contributor's.
-
CPJ makes no warrantees or guarantees regarding your work. That
is, all we offer is a simple way to have your work be published
and seen by many without the hassles of super-formal submission
letters, begging & pleading, etc. If anything more than a 'yes'
or 'no' is expected, you may be disappointed! If you want to encourage
others and contribute to our community, then you will find yourself
in welcome company.
Your privacy is important!
- We will never EVER provide any personal
info (including your email address) to anyone or for any reason outside of The Coffee Press Journal without
your permission, with the exception of appropriate law enforcement requests.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
(The Coffee Press Journal may contain poetry, prose, essays, and
other forms of creative writing.
CAUTION: Side effects may include 'oohs', 'aahs', laughter, tears,
joy, pain, grieving and healing. The most common side effects are
