Starling Glossy by Carol Ann Darling
Starling glossy sings shrill joy to the world -
warbling happy,
he pulls me,
tangles
us
close,
music
spilling forth.
I watch his beak,
he looks at the sun then turns towards me -
it's enchantment,
a pleasure.
Hopeful
for
crumbs,
he waits
patiently,
grandly balanced
on the empty supermarket trolleys.
And so I say - thank you
starling glossy
for giving freely happiness to me...
